Bernd Schoner, PhD
Bernd is the co-founder and CEO of DeepMagic. Bernd came to America from Germany to study at MIT. Subsequently he co-founded ThingMagic, a startup in the emerging RFID and IoT markets. Bernd ran ThingMagic over five years of bootstrapping and then served as its President leading up to the acquisition of the company by Trimble Inc. in 2010. Bernd worked for Trimble as VP of Business Development. In 2017, ThingMagic was acquired a second time by Novanta Inc. where Bernd became VP of Portfolio Development. Bernd holds engineering degrees from RWTH Aachen, Germany, and Ecole Central de Paris, France, as well as a Ph.D. from the MIT Media Lab. Bernd is also the author of The Tech-Entrepreneur's Survival Guide, McGraw-Hill, 2014.
